Mechanical Engineer

Local company is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer!  This position develops, designs, and implements optimal, cost-effective product designs, manufacturing processes, equipment, and methods in accordance with product specifications, quality and industry standards. .  

Job Duties:

  • Performs engineering assignments relative to the structure, trim, and applicable options, with clear and specific objectives, and involves existing and new technology development of products and materials utilized within the transit/mobility industry
  • Performs design calculations and prepares specifications, drawings, and implements into processes and equipment
  • Supports prototype development of new product utilizing existing and new technology, and/or improvement of existing product
  • Leads team activities, coordinates, and communicates with other departments involved in new or improvement activities
  • Leads troubleshooting, analysis, and improvement activities to correct internal and external problems
  • Assists with necessary testing of product and provides training on new product, product improvement and process
  • Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Engineering Technology or related field and 3-5 years related experience (transit/mobility industry experience preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency with a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other applications
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and action in individual and/or team project environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution with quality orientation and attention to detail
  • Computer assisted design (CAD) proficiency with various types of engineering software programs
  • Able to pass criminal background and drug screens
  • Solid employment history
